Mammut Zephir Harness Review

It seems every year climbing equipment continues to get better, lighter and faster! The Zephir Harness from Mammut is another great example of this trend. The Zephir is an extremely lightweight and breathable sport climbing rig stacked with modern features, and also comes as the women’s specific Zephira. It uses a new split webbing technology and high-strength Dyneema, which helps keep the weight down without sacrificing strength. 250 grams, pretty cool stuff!

While the Zephir is designed with high-end free climbing in mind the backpack friendly two over-moulded gear loops are backed up with two ultra-light loops making it suitable for racking gear and moving quick in the mountains

Technology aside, I’ve had the chance to climb in the Zephir a bunch recently including some pitches in pretty humid weather, and have really noticed the ventilation, and have been pretty psyched on the overall comfort. I seem to spend a lot of time falling off rocks so having a lightweight harness that feels like more than just dental floss is also key! The Zephir and Zephira are great additions to Mammut’s climbing arsenal.

If you are looking for a harness with slightly different features or price, the Mammut harness line also includes the following:

Togir Light – An ergonomically cut lightweight alpine harness.

Togir Slide – A versatile very comfortable all-rounder, ideal for all types of rock and ice climbing.

Ophir and Ophira (women’s specific)- A great value, and a great all around full featured harness.

Make sure to swing by the shop or give a call if you have any questions about which harness best meets your needs and budget.
