Bolton Nordic and Backcountry Area is Saved!

Bolton Nordic and Backcountry Area has been saved from private purchase!

Congratulations to the Vermont Land Trust! All their fundraising efforts to save Bolton Valley Nordic and Backcountry land from private purchase have paid off! For a little over a year, the Vermont Land Trust has been working around the clock to raise the $1.85 million required to prevent the land from being sold to private investors.

After many months of endless beneficiary events, anonymous donations, beneficiary t-shirt sales, partnerships, workshops, ski & snowshoe tours, land grants, and more – The goal of $1.85 million has been reached!

As people who love the Bolton Backcountry, we want to thank everyone who has helped make this happen, and our hats go off to all staff and board members at Vermont Land Trust for all their hard work!

The official purchase of the land is set to take place later in the Spring, at which time the land will be transferred to the State of Vermont as a an addition to the Mount Mansfield State Forest.

Any further donations that are made will be put into a fund specifically created for maintenance and infrastructure improvements to trails, roads, parking areas, shelters, and recreational facilities.
