An Update About OGE's Essex Location

After careful consideration, we've made the difficult decision to close our doors in Essex on February 17th, 2025. This will allow us to fully focus on our flagship store in Burlington as we celebrate our 30th anniversary this year.

Operating two locations requires significant resources, including staffing, inventory, and logistics. By consolidating our operations, we can ensure we deliver the exceptional selection, service, and expertise you've come to expect from Outdoor Gear Exchange. This will allow us to uphold the high standards we set for ourselves 30 years ago when we first opened our doors on Main Street in Burlington.

We have been and will continue to be dedicated to our location on Church Street, which remains a vibrant, fun and eclectic city center stacked with some of the best locally-owned shops and restaurants in Vermont. We believe in the energy and community feel of Church Street and are excited to reaffirm our commitment to this special place.

Shopping Options for Essex Customers

We understand many of our Essex customers appreciated the convenience of shopping in Essex. For those customers that can't make it into Burlington, we recommend shopping our website, which offers our vast selection of outdoor gear and apparel with free and fast shipping within Vermont and beyond. Our online gear experts are available by phone, email, and live chat to provide the same level of knowledge and service you'd find in our stores.

Important Dates and Information

  • Last Day of Business in Essex: February 17th, 2025
  • Consignment: We will no longer accept consignment items at the Essex location after January 15th. As always, consignment is available at our Burlington store 7 days a week with no appointments needed. Visit our consignment page for more details. Existing consigned items in Essex will be relocated to Burlington for sale. Customers who wish to collect their items instead must do so before February 17th.
  • Service and Repair: We will no longer accept service and repair drop-offs at the Essex location after January 15th. Any services already dropped off will be completed and returned to Essex for pickup. All completed services must be picked up by February 17th. Uncollected services will be transported to Burlington for pickup during regular business hours.
  • Online Orders: Online orders for in-store pickup at Essex will no longer be accepted after January 15th. Existing orders will be delivered to Essex for pickup by February 17th. Uncollected orders will be transported to Burlington for pickup during regular business hours.
