Scott Hook: Web Developer and Master Family Camper
Berne Broudy
Scott Hook, OGE's web developer extraordinaire, is a native Vermonter. He's lived in Texas and Hawaii, but had the good sense to come back to the Green Mountains. For the past seven years, Scott has worked his programming magic on GearX.com, while hiking and camping with his wife, Jessica, and his two sons. Scott's last adventure was hiking Mount Pisgah, which overlooks Lake Willoughby in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom. And this weekend, he is headed to Cobscook Bay State Park in Maine. Like nearly all the OGE staff we've written about on this blog, his favorite thing about OGE is the people. Scott's didn’t grow up camping, but some of his most cherished memories were from fishing, biking, and hiking in the mountains with friends. As an adult, his greatest adventure was with Jessica--they hiked into Weir Hotsprings in Northern Idaho mid winter while visiting some friends in Missoula Montana and camped out in the snow. "We had the whole place to ourselves!" remembers Scott. Next big adventure on the list: camping in the Seychelles, an island archipelago in the western Indian Ocean.

Scott's favorite camping meal: foil packs of veggies, and some chilled wine. (see photo below). That's why his favorite piece of gear that OGE sells are unbreakable wine glasses!

Scott's kit: A Teardrop Camper pulled by a Honda Pilot packed with a ton of fun things for a weekend with the family. "Getting out of the house is important with a 3 and 5 year old. Chaos can happen quickly being at home. Ask the kids what their favorite thing to do is and camping is always their answer. So far this year we have been all over vermont: Stillwater in Groton, Lake Carmi State Park, DAR in Addison VT and Lake Willoughby. We're looking forward to Cobcook Bay State Park in mid July and hopefully can make it to a few more by the end of the season, like Button Bay, Maidstone and who knows where else!"
