Gear Review: Evolv Shaman LV
Sam DaviesThe Shaman LV from Evolv is an aggressive climbing shoe for overhanging sport climbs, bouldering, and technical face climbing, with a last that will fit men or women with low volume feet. Designed by Chris Sharma, with input from Daila Ojeda, Steph Davis, Emily Harrington, Lisa Rands, and Ashima Shiraishi, the Shaman LV features a synthetic upper to minimize stretch, combined with a microfiber forefoot lining for durability, a cotton lining in the back of the shoe to hold the heel in place, as well as a leather footbed for comfort and odor reduction. Additionally, the Shaman features unique last features in the Love Bump midsole to fill in dead space and position the toes in the front of the shoe, as well as the Knuckle Box to facilitate power transfer through the big toe for hooking and staying on tiny holds. The technologically advanced construction of the Shaman LV gives the shoe a snug, responsive fit for maximum performance. Evolv and Chris Sharma recommend going roughly a half size up with the Shaman and Shaman LV, due to the pre-made shape that puts your toes in a powerful position without cramming.
