The functionality of the headlamp seams great. However, unlike previous models of Black Diamond headlamps, you have to open up the battery compartment to charge the battery pack or replace the included Duracell batteries. Previous models allowed you to plug in a mini USB cable on the outside without opening the battery compartment to recharge the battery pack. The compartment opens with a plastic tab that over time will probably weaken and break. In addition, previous models came with rechargeable Black Diamond batteries instead of non-rechargeable Duracell batteries like the current model. Black Diamond sells a battery pack separately for ~$25 on top of the $54.95 that the headlamp costs. Again, the functionality seems great, but the quality is questionable and you now get less for your money.
Light, bright and reliable. Not sure what else you need in a headlamp.
