Granite Gear's ultralight zippered stowage solution. They are much more accessible than a stuffsack and, because of their shape, they tend to fit well into your pack. The “bath tub” construction leaves no seams to leak when they are set on the wet earth or in the bottom of a kayak. The perfect packing system for clothes and food.

Awesomely convenient storage (Zip, stuff, repeat...)

Awesomely convenient storage (Zip, stuff, repeat...)Ever get tired of cavernous stuff sacks with a drawcord? The Granite Gear Air Zipp Sack may be your new best friend. Really, I love these things. I have accumulated stuff sacks for years and was finally able to purge all the useless ones when I found these Granite Gear creations.
The great thing about these zippered stuff sacks is that the access is magically simple. Unzip them and you can see all the contents in an instant. Go with a bright color like yellow and the contrast makes it easy to dig out your headlamp or find that snack you were craving. The large 16L (let's carry the big guy OGE!) is my favorite and acted as our main food back for my PCT thru hike with my wife. We could rifle through our goodies quickly and find the peanut M & M's or ProBar that we were daydreaming about. Nothing proves the worthiness of a stuff sack like a thru hiker (or two of them sharing one food bag). Access and ease of finding stuff had me sold.
However, I also love how the square shape of the stuff sacks make them perfect for filling one's backpack. They nestle it to just the right spot and don't take on the amorphous blob shape of most cylindrical stuff sacks. I worried a little initially about the durability of the zipper, but it is bomber and slides smoothly and I've never had it snag. Although it is a waterproof-type zipper, these stuff sacks are not seam sealed. While they wouldn't be my first choice for keeping things dry, they really excel at found or "random shit" storage and the whispery sil nylon material packs to peanuts when not in use. I'm rough with our 16L zip and while I have had other stuff sacks that show strain on seams, these guys take a lickin' and keep on tickin'. The haul loops are great and make it easy to use as a bear bag. You won't be disappointed by these zipp sacks -- our's made it 2,600 miles without a scratch and have many more trips to come.
Bonus: When you buy these they come packaged inside a mesh zippered sack that are great to use as a wallet, small first aid kit, or ditty bag. Awesome to see a company that uses packaging that can be utilized instead of adding more plastic to the world (Yes, I am talking to you Sea to Summit!).
