Very good construction and traction at a good price

The descriptions calls these a "urban anti-slip traction device" but they work very well for non-technical winter hiking. The rubber part is strong and exerts considerable tension on the chains, keeping them securely on your boots. I have a pair of these and a pair of Kahtoola Microspikes, and I think these are a bit more secure than the Kahtoolas', although I haven't had problems with either. The construction of the metal parts of the Kahtoolas is a bit more robust.

Great micro spikes

Free Steps worked very well hiking up and down 2 mile trail of wet ice and spring corn snow with 70 lb pack to Tuckerman Ravine. Easy to put on and off. They also fit on my AT Scarpa ski boots.
