Catastrophic Failure
Review by Crappy skisalot
Was fully stoked to make the switch from duckbills to ntn a few years back. Worked a lot of different 75mm bindings hard over the years without any major breakages. Had a great first two resort days on these freedoms and really liked he feel and ease of use. Got out into the woods on my third trip on them and loved the true free pivot for for the climb. Everythin*was awesome until I banged a hard turn in some thick trees and my right heel got really loose. Something in the internal workings failed. No spring resistance at all. Full free pivot mode. It got worse when I tried to remove my ski and couldn’t. Not for love nor money could I get my boot out of my binding. Not an enviable position, sitting in the woods debating taking my boot of while it’s stuck in my ski. Managed to alpine turn my way to the road after a few hours of struggle fest. Decided to take the whole show to the shop where I bought the bindings so they could assess the failure without my interference. After some prying the boot and binding were parted. Things in the binding were bent and mangled. No joy on warranty. Not overly pleased. Could’ve been pretty trying if I had been a few days from the car. Think I’ll go with another brand this time. Maybe 22 designs or Meidjo. Bottom line, take a good hard look at how these things are put together before sinking the cash.
