Ethan Garceau, OGE's Sign Master Flex (that means that Ethan creates all signage at OGE, both witty and straight informational) has been an OGE fixture for four years. Originally from Shapleigh, ME, Garceau came to Vermont to attend college at UVM. Though he still frequents UVM social events, he spends most of his time rock climbing and tele skiing. "I also enjoy slacklining on my off days, riding my bike, grilling, swimming, and boating…oh..and I'm on the OGE kickball team this summer," said Ethan. Ethan's favorite thing about the OGE: "What’s not to like? There are great people in the shop every day. We sell awesome gear and clothing. It’s easy to find climbing partners. Everyone is pretty much always psyched on something. It’s like going to a party every day!" Ethan's dream trip: sport climbing in Spain. His favorite backcountry meal: Alpine Aire Forever Young Mac n’ Cheese. His favorite piece of gear: "My new GriGri2...so tight." He also won't leave home without his Scarpa Vapor Lace Up climbing shoes, Petzl Sama harness, Edelweiss Zen 9.6 rope (though Garceau says he's always psyched to climb on someone elses rope). In winter he skis on Rossignol Ravyns with Black Diamond O1 bindings in Scarpa T1 boots. What you'd never know about Ethan if he didn't confess: he's a two time Maine state champion racewalker…yes, we're serious.
