The Hok is designed as an easy to use ski for the backcountry. Its short wide dimensions makes the ski incredibly maneuverable, and the integrated climbing skin gives the Hok great traction for climbing. The right balance of running base and skin material makes the ski's downhill speed manageable and easy to control. Bridging cross-country skis and snowshoes, the Hok combines the maneuverability and ease of use found in snowshoes with the ski's efficiency of sliding forward rather then lifting and stepping with each stride. Please note: OGExpert ski techs recommend using the Altai brand 75mm 3-Pin bindings for these skis. You can find those here.

I have never had more fun skiing than on these skis! We have multiple pairs for the whole family that have the universal pivot binding which allows for using any winter boot and offer great control over the ski. They are perfect for those who like to snowshoe but want to have a little more fun on the down hills. They climb almost as well as a snowshoe and the skins help temper your speed on the down hills through the trees. That being said, these skis are just one type that you should have in your "quiver" of skis. They are great in most conditions but if it's a really wet snow it sticks to the skins so you should have fishscales as well for those days.
Works very well as they describe. Much more stable than cross country skis. Really is the sweet spot between snowshoe and ski.
