These are one of my favorite things to purchase in what I refer to as the candy isle of the OGE! (The line for the cash registers). I try to keep a pair on most of my backpacks. Here is an example of their usefulness. Say you are running to the grocery store to panic buy enough to fill your pack and then some. The temperature has increased as you walk home and you need to take your coat off. Use Gear Ties to quickly lash your coat onto your pack! Sure you could use p-cord, but it is hard to tie and untie a tight knot, especially if your hands are cold. I like them too for backpacking and hunting as they are a quick fail safe to make sure poles, rifles, water bottles etc all stay in side pockets of packs. Other uses? Now lets just say you were in the scouts but quit before you made it to first class rank and didn't learn to lash properly. Use Gear Ties to connect wooden poles and make a lean too! Secure a game camera to a tree with a Gear Tie as you work on learning the habits of wildlife. Lash a flashlight above you to make an overhead light. Loop around your electric cords as part of your clean up ritual on your job site. And if you are really board, make pipe cleaner animals out of them with your kids on a camping trip or an extended shelter in place order. I like having them around, and am glad to pick up a few every now and then. Please buy them from OGE as they are a great store and are part of the fabric of Burlington, Vermont.
